  1. 0:00Two identical average returns, in different orders, give different outcomes.
  2. 0:05The mechanism. Selling into a fall removes shares permanently, so the recovery has less to work with.
  3. 0:15Why it does not matter while saving. Adding money during a fall buys more. Removing money during one sells more.
  4. 0:24The defenses. Hold a cash buffer, keep the withdrawal rate flexible, and hold some bonds.
  5. 0:33The window that matters. The first few years of withdrawal carry most of this risk. After that it fades.
  6. 0:41Protect the first years, and let the rate flex.
