What the lesson covers

  1. 0:00When a company has no profit, the P/E has nothing to divide by.
  2. 0:05Price to sales. Revenue is harder to manipulate than profit, and it exists even when profit does not.
  3. 0:14The margin problem, shown. Two companies with identical revenue can be worth wildly different amounts.
  4. 0:23Price to book. Compares price to accounting equity. It works for banks and fails for software.
  5. 0:32The shared warning. Both ignore debt. Enterprise-value versions fix that and are usually better.
  6. 0:40Use them where earnings fail, and remember what each one ignores.
