Paper Trading is a simulated brokerage at the platform's live quotes: what the cards show, the five order types and how each fills, and what a result there does and does not mean.

What the Lesson Covers

  1. 0:00A hundred thousand simulated dollars, the platform's real quotes.
  2. 0:05A brokerage app's screen. The account under the title with the preset market screens beside it, a stock always on screen with its chart, the ticket beside it, positions and history below. That is the whole tab.
  3. 0:15Five order types. Market fills now. Limit waits for your price. Stop becomes a market order at your stop; stop limit becomes a limit there. Trailing stop follows the price.
  4. 0:26Day or GTC. A Day order lapses at the close. Good till cancelled works for ninety days. Until then a working order holds back its cash or its shares, and Cancel frees them.
  5. 0:35Two measures. Today compares to yesterday's close. Total return compares to what you paid. A stock can be green on one and red on the other.
  6. 0:44A paper result is practice. It says nothing about the same trade with real money.
