What the lesson covers

  1. 0:00A margin call is not a request. It is notice of what will happen.
  2. 0:05The maintenance level. Your equity must stay above a percentage of the position's value, continuously.
  3. 0:14How leverage accelerates it. A twenty percent fall on two-to-one leverage takes your equity down forty.
  4. 0:24What the broker may do. Sell whatever they choose, whenever they choose, without waiting for you.
  5. 0:33The worst part. Forced selling happens at the bottom, because that is what triggers it.
  6. 0:41Keep a buffer well above the minimum, or do not use margin.
